SATX Life: SJRC Texas Helps Children Reach Their Full Potential

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and for this episode of SATX Life we feature SJRC Texas where more than 100 kids are helped every day across different programs here in South Central Texas. Initially known as St. Jude's Ranch for Children, now SJRC Texas prides itself in being Texas strong and Texas focused offering programs with a keen focus on helping Texas children heal from past trauma due to abuse, abandonment and neglect.

On April 6, 2021 SJRC Texas was pleased to announce that they have been awarded by DFPS to expand Community Based Care in Region 8b. Community Based Care is a new way of providing foster care and case management services. It's a community-based approach to meeting the individual and unique needs of children, youth, and families. Region 8b is the geographic service area consisting of 27 counties, including Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Atascosa, Bandera, Frio and Uvalde Counties.

SJRC Texas has been operating as a key community provider in Region 8b for the 37 years. The new division of SJRC Texas, named Belong, seeks to deliver a model to abused and neglected children and youth in Region 8b by enacting systemic changes that improve the safety, expedite the permanency and focus on child and family well-being, normalcy, and stability, while simultaneously growing the capacity for the Texas foster care system.
